There are a many reputable rental companies on the island. Cars, 4-wheel drive vehicles can be booked in advance through our booking agent http://www.gatewayvillas.org/ who offer a very competitive rate, or directly through car rental offices on the island.

Car rental is expensive on St Lucia, with all the added extras, such as collision damage waiver, extra driver, driving permit, expect to pay at least US$400 (£200) per week for a small car.

Driving is on the left and the use of seat belts is compulsory. Observe the speed limits and no parking zones. The main road up to the north of the island is being upgraded but look out for potholes and watch the storm drains running alongside the road. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended if you intend to drive off the main roads.

Drivers Licence

Visitors to St. Lucia who do not possess an international drivers licence must purchase a temporary permit in order to drive in St. Lucia. The permit is valid for three months and costs around $US21, (£10). The permit can be purchased from your car rental company or at the airport. International drivers must have their permit stamped at immigration. There is no charge for this.

Driving Directions from Hewanorra International Airport to Villa Frangipangi 2:

1. Turn left out of Hewanorra Airport and head north to the city of Castries for 28 miles (approximately a one-hour drive.) Continue on the main highway out of Castries alongside the runway for George F. L Charles Airport to the roundabout.
2. Drive north for approximately 7 miles following the signs to Gros Islet
3. You will see Rodney Bay on the left but continue along the main road past Rodney Bay Marina and about one mile further on you will see a sign for Tropical Villas on the right. Gate Park is just around the bend on the right hand side.
4. Drive through the gates and bearing right follow the road down the hill. Villa Frangipangi 2 is the second property from the bottom on the right hand side.

Driving Directions from George F.L. Charles Airport to Villa Frangipangi 2;
